Who makes Measuring Tape

Measuring Tape & AR Ruler App is an iPhone app made by App Department, a small independent studio that builds utility apps for iOS. The app has been on the App Store since 2025 and is available in 25 languages.

What the app does

It uses the iPhone camera and Apple's ARKit to measure width, height and area, and the motion sensor to work as a bubble level. The level is free with no limit, width has 3 free measurements a day, and height and area are part of Premium.

AR measuring is quick and close, not millimeter-exact. We say so on every page where it matters, and we recommend checking with a physical tape measure before cutting or ordering anything.

How the guides are written

  • Each guide answers one question people actually search for, based on Google Keyword Planner and Ahrefs data.
  • Numbers in tables (fractions, conversions, screen sizes) are calculated, not copied, and conversions use exact factors such as 1 inch = 25.4 mm.
  • Facts that depend on standards or manufacturers, such as card sizes, coin sizes, stud spacing or blind-measuring rules, are checked against official sources, listed at the end of each guide.
  • Where sources disagree, the guide says so instead of picking one silently.
  • Guides mention the app only where it genuinely helps, and never claim it does more than it does.
